We provide full-time government-funded education for 16-21 year olds as an alternative to college or 6th form.


Students will study a variety of nationally recognised qualifications within sport, coaching and fitness. 

  • Year 1 – Level 2 Diploma in Sport (stepping stone qualification, leading to a Level 3 qualification
  • Year 1 – Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Sport (equivalent to 1.5 A-Levels; entry requirements 4 GCSE grade 4-9 including English ((Lit or Lang)) and Maths)
  • Year 2 –  Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (equivalent to 3 A-Levels, allowing direct entry to UK and US Universities)

Students who have not yet achieved a GCSE grade C/4 in English (literature or language) and Maths will have to continue their studies with us to achieve this grade.

New For 2021 - Pre-Season Training 10-week Course 

We are extremely excited to launch our new 10-week pre-season course in 2021. We will be running these courses at multiple locations in and around Coventry and Warwickshire. The course is for players over the age of 16, players do not need to be an SFF student and it is a great way to get fit and receive expert coaching prior to the start of the football season. The courses are run by current SFF staff and special guest coaches.

Coaching Courses

Students will have the opportunity to take their football coaching qualifications at the academy with the English FA.

We provide FA Level 1 coaching courses as well as online courses.

We are incredibly proud of our partnership with Loughborough College and Nottingham University. The partnership allows SFF students the opportunity to undertake a Foundation Degree in three sports subjects.

The blended learning courses allow students to undertake course work at the university and at home. Students will still be carrying on their football development with training and games at SFF.

The courses allow students the opportunity to develop their knowledge, attain a degree and also create a pathway to potential jobs in the sports industry.

Sports Coaching

Blended learning provides the perfect combination of online/distance learning and contact day attendance, which is ideal for those balancing their studies alongside other professional or sporting commitments. The programme allows you to develop your teaching and coaching skills. You will gain knowledge and understanding of the disciplines underpinning effective sports coaching and performance for different ages and abilities.

Course Content

You will put your theory into practice through applied studies, placements and assessments. Renowned for our provision of high-quality teaching, your learning will include online lectures, seminars and activities, as well as coaching,  practise and independent study.

Most English-language universities accept a suitable IELTS score as proof that your English skills are good enough to follow the course. An Oxford House College IELTS course will prepare you to get the best score you can in the examination. If you have a target score for a university course, our teachers will advise you.

Assessments include a range of essays, projects, presentations and reports. Such diversity will allow you to experience various modes of academic and professional practice, developing your abilities and refining your skills in preparation for your next steps.

Progression Opportunities

Following this programme, many of our successful students have applied to PGCE programmes to pursue a career in teaching, with others gaining employment in international coaching, local authority coaching, professional clubs and National Governing Body programmes. Students can also progress on to postgraduate study (e.g. MA/MSc.)

Sports Science

This programme enables the multidisciplinary study of sport and exercise science at a higher level. You will gain a scientific understanding of core principles in human physiology, psychology and biomechanics, for the purposes of supporting elite sporting performance, as well as developing an understanding of the sociological underpinning of sport. You will have the opportunity to study in all major disciplines of sports science, as well as an introduction to research and laboratory skills, and a research project in your final year.
