I thoroughly enjoyed my time at SFF, it gave me the opportunity of coaching on a daily basis working with talented players and gave me valuable time on the field coaching in order for me to complete the UEFA A Licence. The coaching staff are experienced and have great knowledge and enthusiasm for the game. Outside of the professional game I cannot see there being any better programme than Strachan Football Foundation, their training ground and facilities are superb and the effort the coaching staff go to in supporting their players is something which would benefit any footballer
John has been a regular face at SFF in order to help him prepare for his UEFA A licence assessment in 2016 with ambitions of moving into the professional game as a coach or manager John has found his experience at SFF a valuable one. As a player John had a illustrious playing career he played for Coventry City , Watford , Stoke City , Watford and Middleborough FC, making a total of 356 professional appearances with over 49 of them in the Premier League.
Strachan Football Foundation has been a real help to my coaching development , their coaches have years of experience and have a great reputation in developing players. The facilities they have are equal if not better than most lower league professional clubs. In my experience Strachan Football Foundation will provide a great platform to develop a career in the game, I look forward to seeing how the current group of players develop and would surprised not to see one or two make a career in the professional game.
Kevin has a wealth of experience in professional football, upon leaving his managerial role at Swindon Town FC Kevin came into SFF for an 8 months period before moving onto Nottingham Forest FC as U21’s coach. Kevin’s career as a coach has seen him have two opportunities as caretaker manager for Aston Villa in the Premier League was assistant manager under Tim Sherwood in 2015 and is currently the Aston Villa Under 21’s head coach. During his time at Aston Villa Kevin was instrumental in the development of Aston Villa’s golden era, helping develop the careers of academy players Gabby Agbonlahor, Gareth Barry , Marc Albrighton , Gary Cahill and Darius Vassell becomming first team regulars and international footballers.
Kevin’s playing career was just as impressive as his coaching CV he played in the highest level of English football for Liverpool , Leicester City and Coventry City. Kevin was part of the famous Liverpool squad which won the league and FA Cup double in 1986. Kevin also played for Rangers, Cardiff City and Walsall making a total of 276 professional appearances.
I became involved with Strachan Football Foundation after leaving the managers role at Swindon Town in 2013, SFF gave me the opportunity to continue coaching when out of the professional game. Their staff are well qualified and have great experience of working with young players, their enthusiasm and commitment to their players is astounding, The SFF staff work hard to help develop the young people they work with and give each and every player the opportunity to achieve their goals in life. The training ground is well equipped providing a great environment for players to develop. Strachan Football Foundation provides a professional academy which would match the standards of many football league academies.
Paul had a very successful playing career making 395 professional appearances, 219 of which were in the Premier League with Coventry City and Southampton. Paul also played for Derby County and Stoke City when they were in the Championship.
Paul is a coach with a great reputation in developing young players , he has had coaching roles with Wolves and Southampton where he helped develop Gareth Bale , Luke Shaw and Calum Chambers. He has had a spell as 21’s development coach and first team coach at Brentford, his current role is with Championship side Nottignham Forest as Professional development phase coach working with the 21’s and first team squads. In 2015 Paul was appointed by the FA to work with the England U16’s national squad working out of St George’s Park.
I have visited Strachan Football Foundation a number of times and after every visit I leave with a very positive feeling about the place, Having played under Gordon Strachan throughout my career I have a good understanding of the standards he sets for his players and staff who work for him, the staff at SFF certainly meet the standards set by the gaffer. The coaches have vast experience in developing young players and do a great job working with the players on a daily basis. The training ground is fantastic providing a great environment for the players to develop, having seen the development of the current group of players I know the coaches are doing a great job. One of my frustrations of working in professional academies was the focus on developing the players who were thought to be future first team players, SFF coaches have the opportunity to develop each and every player and they are great job at doing this. I look forward to seeing a few players coming into the professional game in the next few years, SFF provides a great platform for players to achieve there life ambitions as footballers.
