Staff Profiles


Gordon currently Scotland national team manager appointed January 2013. Gordon enjoyed an illustrious playing career with Dundee, Aberdeen, Manchester United, Leeds United and Coventry City. In that time he won some of the most glittering prizes in the game, including the English Division One title (now the Premiership), the FA Cup, Scottish Premier League and the European Cup Winners’ Cup. Gordon also represented Scotland 50 times – appearing in two World Cups. He has since managed Coventry City and Southampton in the Premier League and Celtic in the Champions League and also having a short spell at Middlesbrough. Gordon Strachan is now the manager of his national team Scotland, which he described as a dream job and an absolute honour to lead his country. Gordon is a regular face at the training ground and takes a strong interest in the goings on within the Foundation.

George Mackie, Director of Football

George plied his trade for Dundee United, Partick Thistle and Odense of the Danish Premier League as a player, before moving into coaching with Coventry City, Dundee United, Livingston and Arbroath. George has attained the prestigious UEFA PRO License qualification – the highest honour in coaching. George has had some great achievements in his coaching career guiding Coventry City Youth team to two consecutive FA Youth Cup Finals against Arsenal and West Ham United. Chay Thompson

An FA Level 2 coach had FA Youth Modules 1,2 and 3, Chay passed his level 2 with high praise from the Birmingham FA at only 17 years old and is now working towards UEFA B licence, Chay is a very good young coach with excellent technical detail. Chay is a qualified NVQ Assessor having recently passed his A1 is a mentor to our apprentice coaches has played with a few semi professional clubs throughout his career when a youngster. Chay is  also a part time coach with Coventry City FC Academy.

Craig Strachan

Craig is a UEFA B and FA Youth Module 2 qualified coach is currently a scout for Celtic FC , a Former Professional at Coventry City and Scotland Youth International, Craig brings a blend of experience and creativity to his coaching and we look forward to working closely in Craig’s development , 2016 will see Craig embark on his journey to complete the UEFA A licence.

Andy Iland

FA Level 2 Coach and has the FA Youth Module 1 , Under 18’s Assistant Manager. Andy is a Qualified Referee and is on record as the youngest official in the FA Cup’s history having replaced the linesman who pulled a hamstring before an FA Cup 3rd round qualifier fixture at Rugby Town FC, Butlin Road. Andy has 4 years coaching experience is the lead coach within our schools and holiday camps programmes. A talented young coach with a good eye for detail a very well organised coach with a great attitude to developing his coaching ability.


Ewan Aldridge

FA Level 2 Coach and FA Level 2 Goalkeeper coach. , Ewan is the Under 18’s goalkeeper coach and is in charge of defensive set piece on match days. Ewen works with the keepers on a daily basis and has some creative methods when working with the keepers. Ewan works under the guidance of the FA Goalkeepers national staff as part of their goalkeeper coach mentor programme and has a bright future as a keeper coach. Having past his FA Level 2 and Goalkeeping level 2 Ewan is now progressing onto the FA Youth Modules starting his level 1 in 2016.


First class training facility in Rugby

The SFF training  ground is located at Rugby Town Junior FC, Kilsby Lane. Two Learning Zone in the clubhouse is equipped with projector, computers and coaching resources available to all students to assist with completing qualifications and preparing for coaching sessions.

The facilities are one that could match many professional academies with a UEFA 2* 3G astro turf with 2 additional 3G training areas and numerous grass training pitches.

Significant investment on IT and coaching resources have been spent on to provide supportive a learning environment with excellent facilities available to each student.
